Shun Sunohara春原シュン
Third-year Shanhaijing student and instructor at Plum Blossom Garden
Shun Sunohara (春原シュン) is a third-year student at Shanhaijing Senior Secondary School and an instructor at Plum Blossom Garden in Blue Archive. She watches over the garden’s younger pupils with a patience earned from experience, earning the trust of children and other Shanhaijing students alike. Her younger sister Kokona also teaches there, although the two have rather different ways of asserting their authority.
Shun carries an ornate sniper rifle called Whip of Love, but it is her kindness, composure and sensitivity about her undisclosed age that define her everyday character.
Biography
A Student Trusted with Teaching
Shun occupies two roles at Shanhaijing Senior Secondary School: she is a third-year student and a practiced instructor in its disciplinary-support department. Plum Blossom Garden refers both to the children’s facility where she works and to the support group associated with it. The young pupils admire her, and her gentle handling of their pranks has also earned the regard of other students. She may look entirely at home giving instructions, but she has student responsibilities of her own.
Everyday Life at Plum Blossom Garden
Much of Shun’s day is spent watching over curious children, preparing activities and responding to whatever unexpected question or prank comes next. Her patience does not mean the work is effortless. During a visit to a pottery workshop, the children’s excitement overwhelms the planned demonstration and leaves her trying to keep the outing under control. The incident offers an unusually concrete look at how demanding the garden can be even when no one intends to cause trouble.
Kokona and the Other Instructor
Her younger sister, Kokona Sunohara, is a fellow instructor at Plum Blossom Garden. Kokona takes her teaching role seriously and wants to be recognized for it; Shun sometimes treats her with the easy familiarity of an affectionate older sister instead. Their difference is not a dispute about whether the children matter. Both work to care for the same pupils, even when they approach their responsibilities in different ways.
The Student Behind the Instructor
Shun’s unruffled manner makes it easy to overlook how much is expected of her. Although she is still a student, she spends her days guiding children and trying to meet the standards of a dependable instructor. Comments about her age, however, can quickly rattle her usual composure. Her moments with Sensei give her space to be less formal and to admit, sometimes rather playfully, that the person looking after everyone else also wants attention.
Personality and Motivations
Shun is usually gentle and difficult to provoke, even when the garden’s children test the limits of her patience. Her kindness has a practical side: she must keep a busy group safe and engaged rather than merely appear sweet. Her experience helps her respond to minor mischief without treating every interruption as a crisis.
Her poise has one particularly obvious weak spot: remarks about her age. Kokona’s teasing on the subject leaves her dispirited in a relationship episode, and Shun can become unexpectedly playful when she is away from her usual teaching duties. Those reactions give her a less guarded side without erasing the dedication she shows to the children.
Because she is both a student and someone expected to teach, Shun understands the responsibilities of an instructor from an unusual position. She is attentive to others’ needs, yet her exchanges with Sensei reveal that she also appreciates being reassured, indulged or simply allowed to rest.
Appearance
Shun has long, dark blue-black hair with bluish-purple accents, vivid green eyes and a distinctive light blue, geometrically patterned halo. Her hair is styled with raised, ear-like sections and ornaments, giving her silhouette an instantly recognizable shape.
Her regular outfit is a dark, high-slit, Chinese-inspired dress with green fastenings and pale floral decoration, paired with a dark fur-like shoulder wrap and heeled, open-toed footwear. She is depicted with an ornate, long sniper rifle. Her listed height is 174 centimeters; her exact age is not disclosed.

Abilities
Early-childhood instruction
Long experience in Plum Blossom Garden gives Shun a practiced ability to oversee young children, handle their pranks and guide group activities without losing her usual composure.
Sniper-rifle combat
Shun uses Whip of Love, an ornate sniper rifle, in combat. Her standard playable unit fights from the back as an Explosive-damage Striker. The weapon’s description explicitly separates its intimidating reputation from the children she looks after: she does not point it at them.
Opening resource advantage
Her normal skill, Pay Attention, Everyone!, awards additional skill cost once when battle begins. This gives the team more resources for opening actions rather than adding a permanent passive stream of skill cost.
Limitations: The benefit activates only once per battle; the amount scales with skill level.
Target-priority EX stance
Her EX skill, Where Did You Go, You Rascals?, strengthens normal-attack damage, range and critical-hit capability while changing her targeting priority toward an enemy with high attack.
Limitations: The effect is temporary and reduces her attack speed while active.
Relationships
Kokona Sunohara
Younger sister and fellow Plum Blossom Garden instructor
Kokona works alongside Shun at Plum Blossom Garden and is determined to be seen as a proper instructor, not merely as Shun’s little sister. Shun’s affection sometimes clashes with that wish, although the sisters share responsibility for the younger pupils.
Sensei
Teacher and trusted adviser
Sensei visits the garden and joins Shun in activities involving the children. In their relationship stories, Sensei also consoles Shun when she is upset, accompanies her on errands and accepts a chance to rest while she sings a lullaby.
Rumi
Friend and supplier to Plum Blossom Garden
Rumi is an acquaintance described as Shun’s friend who helps provide food ingredients to Plum Blossom Garden. Their connection links the garden’s everyday needs with other people at Shanhaijing.
Interesting facts
The in-game description of Whip of Love explicitly says Shun never points her sniper rifle at the children she teaches.
Its deliberately intimidating name does not override the clear boundary between her combat role and the pupils in her care.
A message about snack time meant for the garden’s children accidentally reaches Sensei in Shun’s first relationship episode.
An ordinary mistake leads to a relaxed visit, showing how much of her story is built around daily life rather than combat.
Shun offers an overworked Sensei a place to nap at Plum Blossom Garden and sings a lullaby nearby.
The scene gives Sensei a turn to receive care from someone who usually spends her day caring for others.
Her MomoTalk status is rendered as “With my little angels.”
The small character-profile detail reinforces how her daily identity is tied to the children she looks after.

Major story spoilers below.
The Rejuvenation Medicine
During Catch in Neverland, a trip with the Plum Blossom Garden children to a pottery workshop ends in commotion. Worn down by work and concerned about her skin, Shun goes to the alchemy student Saya for a beauty treatment. Instead, Saya gives her an experimental rejuvenation medicine that transforms her body into a younger version of herself. She retains her memories and identity, but her new form also makes her more susceptible to childish impulses.
A Day as Shueling
When Shun meets Sensei after the transformation, she conceals her identity under the name Shueling and pretends to help search for the missing instructor. The two tour Shanhaijing together, while Shun savors being treated like a child for once. She crosses paths with Kokona, who is suspicious without identifying her, and later deflects Kirino when the Valkyrie student offers to take her back to the garden. The disguise gives her a break from the role she usually has to play.
The Decision to Return
Saya’s arrival exposes Shun’s identity to Sensei. Shun flees, and the attempts to catch her only escalate the chaos; even Sensei and Saya end up being taken away by Kirino. The turning point comes when Sensei stops trying to force a solution and instead hears Shun speak about the weight of her work. The voices of the children searching for their instructor bring her responsibilities back into focus. Shun ultimately returns to her usual body, and a later visit shows that she can still ask Sensei for affection without needing another transformation.
The Person Beneath the Role
Her relationship stories provide quieter variations on the same theme. In her usual form, Shun joins Sensei in teaching children about brushing their teeth, picking out a cake for the garden and taking a peaceful break while Sensei naps. In her younger-form stories, she revisits a favorite cafe, discovers how difficult it is to reach high shelves, returns to an old secret hideout and confronts the idea that growing up means putting beloved things aside. A separate Shanhaijing event also shows her leaving garden duties with Kokona during a closing banquet so she can seek Sensei’s attention.
A Return to Shanhaijing in 2026
In June 2026, Blue Archive’s Japanese release held the Shanhaijing summer event 嵐過天晴, which introduced Shun (Swimsuit) alongside Kisaki (Swimsuit). The swimsuit unit can be switched to a Shueling appearance in the pre-battle formation screen, recalling the identity she used during Catch in Neverland. In the event story, Shun acts as a guide for Sensei’s group; a later conversation revisits the responsibilities and anxieties that come with teaching and protecting students. The event extends this aspect of her character rather than establishing a new ending to her ongoing story.
Additional story facts
Shun’s treasured childhood keepsake is a pair of hairpins she seldom uses now that she no longer often wears her hair in twin tails.
The item is a tangible link between her ordinary adultlike presentation and the childhood tastes she rediscovers in her smaller form.
Shun’s distinctive halo keeps the same design in her regular and rejuvenated appearances.
The visual continuity makes the two bodies recognizable as versions of the same person, even before the story explains the disguise.
