Linia Dedoldiaリニアーナ・デドルディア
Feline Doldia beastfolk and influential troublemaker at Ranoa University of Magic
Linia Dedoldia is a feline beastfolk character in Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation and a member of the Doldia clan's ruling family. At Ranoa University of Magic, she and her childhood friend Pursena Adoldia have a reputation for bullying other students and getting their way through intimidation. Linia is impulsive, quick to pick a fight, and accustomed to being treated as someone important.
Her encounter with Rudeus Greyrat overturns that comfortable position, leaving the once-feared troublemaker calling him 'Boss.' Her catlike appearance and habit of ending sentences with 'nya' make her immediately recognizable.
Biography
A Doldia Heiress at Ranoa
Linia comes from the feline Dedoldia family of the Great Forest, one of the prominent bloodlines of the Doldia beastfolk. She attends Ranoa University of Magic alongside Pursena Adoldia, a childhood friend from the clan's canine branch. Their family standing does little to encourage modest behavior. Both are capable fighters, and together they become notorious for throwing their weight around the university. Other students have good reason to avoid provoking them.
The Roxy Figurine Incident
Linia's troublemaking brings her into conflict with Rudeus Greyrat through Zanoba Shirone. After defeating Zanoba in a duel, she and Pursena destroy a figurine of Roxy Migurdia that Rudeus had created. Rudeus is furious when he discovers the damage. He confronts the pair and defeats them, demonstrating that their reputation for strength does not make them untouchable. Their attempt to assert themselves over Zanoba ends with Linia and Pursena acknowledging Rudeus as their superior and addressing him as 'Boss.'
Life Under a New Campus Hierarchy
Linia remains close to Pursena after their defeat. Their interactions with Rudeus become less openly hostile, although neither entirely loses her unruly habits. Linia's quick adjustment to Rudeus's authority is typical of her approach to strength: she enjoys being the intimidating one but knows when another person has decisively beaten her. The two beastfolk continue their university lives as recognizable members of Rudeus's circle.
Personality and Temperament
Linia is loud, proud, easily provoked, and fond of asserting her authority. She acts on impulse and often overestimates what she can get away with. Her confidence is genuine enough to get her into fights, but it disappears quickly when she meets someone overwhelmingly stronger. Rather than stubbornly continuing a hopeless confrontation, she can become remarkably deferential.
Pursena provides a useful contrast. Where her canine companion often appears comparatively composed, Linia is expressive and hot-tempered. The two are nevertheless dependable companions to one another. Linia's loyalty is especially apparent when Pursena faces serious consequences later in the novels, although the details belong in her spoiler biography.
Appearance
Linia has short, tousled gray hair, pointed feline ears, a matching tail, and reddish eyes. Her official anime design shows her in the Ranoa school uniform, with a light-colored jacket, dark vest, red neck ribbon, skirt, and boots. Her catlike ears and tail distinguish her from Pursena, whose features are canine.

Major story spoilers below.
Graduation and a Disastrous Business Venture
Linia eventually graduates from Ranoa University alongside Pursena. Instead of returning to fulfill the responsibilities expected of her in Doldia Village, she attempts to establish herself as a traveling merchant. She transports goods between Asura and the northern territories, borrowing money to finance her trade. The venture ends badly when she is swindled and cannot repay her debts. Her creditors have her sold into slavery, bringing an abrupt end to her ambition of making a living independently.
Eris's Rescue and Rudeus's Intervention
Linia escapes from the slave traders and encounters Eris Greyrat, who takes her in. The traders subsequently arrive at Rudeus's home to reclaim her. They explain that a buyer from the Boreas family has already arranged to purchase Linia. Rather than surrender an old acquaintance, Rudeus pays the traders himself and assumes responsibility for her considerable debt.
Rudeus initially has Linia work as a maid under his younger sister Aisha. It is a spectacularly poor fit. Linia breaks household items, leaves fur on the laundry, and repeatedly frustrates Aisha with her carelessness. Sylphiette also becomes unhappy with the arrangement. Eris is more accommodating, but the other household members make it clear that Linia cannot continue working there indefinitely.
Linia considers becoming Rudeus's fourth wife, partly because she hopes marriage would eliminate her debt. Eris raises the possibility of a relationship between them, but Rudeus rejects the arrangement. He is unwilling to make the already uncomfortable household situation worse and prefers to preserve their friendship. He consequently begins searching for another occupation for Linia.
An Unexpected Talent for Recruiting Mercenaries
Finding Linia suitable work proves difficult. Rudeus considers employing her in research, sales, domestic service, and adventuring before deciding that she might be better at recruiting people to assist his operations for Orsted. He acquires a building for the venture and places Aisha in charge of supervising Linia.
The results exceed Rudeus's expectations. During his absence, Linia recruits more than thirty people, while Aisha finds practical uses for the growing workforce. Since many of the recruits are fighters, the business develops into a mercenary company providing services such as hired protection. By the time Rudeus returns, it has around fifty employees, a recognizable uniform, and paying customers. The organization becomes known as Ruquag's Mercenary Company, or Ruquag's Mercenary Band.
Aisha handles the difficult organizational and financial work, while Linia's ability to gather followers becomes genuinely useful. The mercenary business offers Linia a realistic means of repaying Rudeus without remaining an ineffective household servant. It also provides personnel who can assist Rudeus with his broader assignments.
Returning Home with the Sacred Beast
A message from the Great Forest brings Linia back to Doldia Village alongside Rudeus and the Sacred Beast Leo. The villagers are alarmed by Leo's disappearance and demand an explanation. They also recognize Linia, whose decision to abandon her expected duties and become a merchant has done little for her standing at home. Rudeus explains how her commercial failure led to her enslavement and subsequent rescue.
The visit also reveals that Pursena has fallen into serious trouble. After returning home, Pursena became a warrior leader and a candidate for higher responsibility, only to lose her position when she ate the village's emergency meat supplies while assigned to guard them. She is imprisoned, and Rudeus's investigation establishes what happened. Although Linia cannot erase her friend's offense, she proposes an alternative to leaving Pursena disgraced in prison.
Linia suggests that Pursena accompany Leo as his caretaker. She argues that dedicated service over the following ten years could provide a path toward forgiveness. With Rudeus supporting the proposal, Gyes accepts it. Pursena returns to Sharia with them and subsequently becomes involved in the mercenary organization's work.
The Mercenaries and the Rebuilding of Superd Village
Linia and Pursena remain active in the mercenary organization through later events. In the final light-novel volume, after the climactic conflict in the Biheiril Kingdom, members of Ruquag's Mercenary Band help rebuild the Superd Village near the Ravine of the Earthwyrm. Aisha coordinates the reconstruction effort, while Linia and Pursena direct the mercenaries after receiving her instructions. Their involvement places both former university troublemakers in charge of practical work for a community recovering from a major conflict.
Liniana Dedoldia in the Later Historical Record
An in-world historical dossier included in the final novel identifies Liniana Dedoldia as the leader of Ruquag's Mercenary Band. The document also describes her as a leader of her beastfolk tribe and records the belief that she served as an intermediary between Rudeus and the beastfolk. This latter role is presented as the historical compiler's assessment, rather than an independently narrated diplomatic episode.
Additional story facts
When Linia visits Ranoa as a maid, two new students from the Great Forest recognize her and are visibly frightened of her.
Her intimidating reputation survives graduation, even though her own circumstances have changed dramatically.
Members of Ruquag's Mercenary Company wear black coats with a yellow rat emblem. Aisha adopts the idea of a shared uniform following Nanahoshi's suggestion.
The emblem gives the company a recognizable identity tied to the Greyrat name and helps distinguish its members from ordinary hired fighters.
The bibliography of the final volume's fictional historical dossier credits Liniana Dedoldia with an Activity Log of Ruquag's Mercenary Band dated to the year 456.
Her name appears not only in the dossier's account of influential people but also as the attributed author of an in-world organizational record.
